Yes, folks, you could be in for your big break. If you are a master blues guitarist and if you are extremely extremely lucky, here is your chance to play alongside some of the greatest blues guitarists of all time at Clapton’s Crossroads Charity gig at MSG in April, 2013. Brought to you by Ernie Ball Strings… the late great slide guitarist who became a major guitar accessorize supplier before he died in 2004.

According to Wikipedia: “With the guitar-based rock revival of the 1960s, Ball noticed that beginning students were having difficulty playing the bestselling Fender #100 medium gauge strings, particularly in holding down or bending the stiff 29-gauge third (“G”) string. At the time, it was common for a set of strings to have a “wound” third string. He approached the Fender company with the problem, suggesting a lighter gauge but was rebuffed. Ball convinced a string manufacturer to make him custom sets with a 24-gauge third string which he sold in his store.

Now the company that bears Ernie’s name is holding a terrific contest. See the info below and good luck:

Ernie Ball is proud to announce the 2013 Play Crossroads contest, where the legendary string company will be partnering up with Guitar Center, Guitar World, and in a global search to give the next best undiscovered guitarist a chance to perform live on stage at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival 2013 at Madison Square Garden on April 12th-13th.
