Sir Paul joined onstage in Seattle by Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear
The trio reunited with the ex-Beatle to perform “Cut Me Some Slack,” a number they’d first debuted at last year’s 12-12-12 Concert Benefit for Hurricane Sandy relief. The ex-Nirvana men then remained onstage and took a rousing run through a number of Beatles classics including “Helter Skelter,” “Get Back,” and “The End,” as well as a cover of Little Richard’s “Long Tall Sally.
The appearance marked the Nirvana trios first hometown appearance together in more than 15 years. Speaking to Rolling Stone afterwards, Sir Paul called the experience “powerful,” adding that “my band’s great – but when you augment it with Nirvana, that’s greater.”
The pioneering grunge rockers do seem to have an amazingly good chemistry with Sir Macca, as you can see in their guitar-shredding version of “Get Back.” One can only hope that in the future there will be more Nirvana/McCartney collaborations.
