In this video released on their YouTube channel, Black Sabbath and producer Rick Rubin talk about some of the studio techniques they used to recreate the band’s early sound for their upcoming release 13.
The album will be the band’s first since their 1995 release Forbidden, and features founding Sabbath members Ozzy Osborne, Geezer Butler and Tony Iommi. Absent from the proceedings is drummer Bill Ward, who according to Iommi, was basically not up to the rigors of recording and touring with the band.
13 was produced by acclaimed Def Jam producer Rick Rubin who also appears in this video, talking about what it was like to get back to basics and recreate the original Sabbath sound.
