Austin-based blues rocker‘s latest video from debut album Blak and Blu
By Alex Baker
It’s been a huge year for Gary Clark Jr. Propelled into the limelight by the single “Bright Lights,” the Austin-based singer/guitarist and actor was one of our favorite breakout artists in 2012. Since the release of his red hot major label debut album, Blak and Blu, he’s performed for President Obama at the White House, joined the Rolling Stones onstage, and played with everyone from B.B. King to Alicia Keys. Now Clark has released another video for a track off Blak and Blu.
Showcasing the same contemporary update on the blues/rock sound heard on his previous singles, Clark’s new video for “Numb” sees him adopting a vocal style reminiscent of Jimi Hendrix on Voodoo Chile.” As usual, Clark’s guitar tone and tasteful blues chops are spot on. The video, which chronicles the ups and downs that come with any relationship, is shot in stylish black and white and features Clark doing a guitar solo on the side of the road leaning against a vintage Cadillac. How cool is that?
