Video: David Bowie “Valentine’s Day”

Bowie‘s latest video¬†showcases guitar heavy sound that recalls singer’s work from the Eighties

David Bowie has released a new video for “Valentine’s Day” off his most recent album The Next Day.

Unlike other recent video releases from the rock icon that have featured the slightly less thin-than-he-used-to-be white duke co-starring with the likes of Gary Oldman and Tilda Swinton, “Valentine’s Day” is more of a stark affair, featuring Bowie strumming a guitar with no headstock and glaring rather intensely at the camera.

Bowie’s voice, while more mature than the acrobatic tenor of his Ziggy Stardust days, still resonates quality and the song itself demonstrates that Bowie still seems to have something to offer as a songwriter.

There’s also some strong lead guitar playing from Earl Slick, who doesn’t appear in the video, but nonetheless, helps propel the song with his melodic, driving riffery.
