Great Summer Venues - New York City: The Beekman Beer Garden Beach Club is in the space that formerly housed Water Taxi Beach, and much of the setup has remained the same. There’s still a patch of sand where you can soak up some rays, an area with picnic tables where you can grab some grub (thankfully under some tents for when that sun is blazin’ hot), and, of course, a wide selection of brews to keep yourself hydrated. The Beekman has introduced a concert series and has featured some great acts ranging from veterans such as Little Feat to Johnny Winter to some of the the hottest up and coming Indie bands, so it’s well worth checking out the events callendar!
Why It’s Different: Um, did you see that awesome view of the Brooklyn Bridge? While the East River may not live up to an ocean vista, it sure comes close for those who’ve been landlocked in Manhattan for one too many weekends.
When to Beer It Up: Two words – daytime drinking. While Beekman stays open late, the real fun goes down when the sun is shining. Plus, they’ve got ping-pong and foosball, two musts for the AM imbibing set.
