The Strypes “Blue Collar Jane” – Video

Teenage Irish rockers summon the spirit of the early Stones and Who

No, they’re not some obscure British Invasion band you’ve somehow never heard of. In fact they are The Strypes, a maximum rhythm and blues band from Cavan, Ireland.

The four piece outfit consists of vocalist Ross Farrelly, lead guitarist Josh McClorey, bassist Pete O’Hanlon, and drummer Evan Walsh. All the guys in the band are aged between 15-17 and seemingly of the same height, which we estimate to be about 5’4.

The band’s rather punky approach to the blues has led to comparisons with the early Stones, The Pretty Things, and The Yardbirds. The Strypes have been earning some high profile fans on both sides of the pond, including Jeff Beck, Dave Grohl, Paul Weller, Noel Gallagher, and Sir Elton John, who signed them to his Rocket Music Management company.

Having recently inked a deal with Mercury Records, The Strypes are poised for big things. After checking out this delightfully mod video for “Blue Collar Jane” you’ll understand why.
