Spiralfire
Spiralfire is an alternative rock outfit from Carrboro, NC that rose from the ashes of a breakup suffered by lead singer Sinclair Vernon. Enlisting guitarist Riley Miller, bassist Keith Lewis, guitarist Dom Ciampa, and drummer Manny Parial, Vernon formed Spiralfire, a sonically sophisticated alt-rock band with influences like Smashing Pumpkins, Garbage, and Soundgarden. The band has recently finished their first full length recording and is poised for big things in 2013. Check out their video for “Road Rising.”
Specyphi
A hard rock/metal outfit from Cincinnati, Specyphi also incorporate elements of rock, blues, and acoustic music into their sound. The band is fronted by vocalist Josh Fent and features Shane Doan on lead guitar, Telly Kools on bass, and Kevin Best on drums. Although the band has only been in operation for a couple of years, they already have an endorsement deal with B.C. Rich guitars. Check out the headbanging video for Specyphi’s “Snowy Summer.”

Core Effect
Core Effect are a heavy contemporary rock group from Detroit. This Motor-city four-piece are well-established locally and have opened for the likes of Papa Roach and Seether. Since being formed in 2007, the band has toured extensively throughout the Midwest and East Coast, building a large regional following and garnering some spins on mainstream and college stations. We dig Core Effect’s moody film noiresque video for “Killing Me” and especially like lead guitarist Joe Keough‘s tone on the solo. Check it out!
