Zeppelin frontman teams up with Scottish indie dance rockers
Legendary Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant has contributed some guest vocals to the upcoming Primal Scream album. The album, which is due out next year, will be the first by Scottish indie dance-rockers since 2008′s Beautiful Future.
The Scream are probably best known for contributing the title track to the 1996 film Trainspotting. However in the UK they enjoyed a string of hits in the indie charts throughout the 1990s and early 2000s.
Speaking to Mojo Magazine Plant made it clear that his admiration for the band was a big part of why he choose to collaborate with them.
“I sang a bit on the Primal’s stuff because I think their references on looking back to the glorious past, and the way they bring them into the contemporary world are fantastic,” said the 64-year-old Plant.
Unlike Zeppelin guitar hero Jimmy Page who has tried unsuccessfully to get the band back together and even now, is remastering the Zep catalog yet again, Plant has continually searched for more contemporary outlets.
“What can I be as a singer that doesn’t play much?” asked Plant. “That’s how I see everything: what can I be a part of that’s exciting? If anybody’s got any ideas, I’m always up for it.”
Unless of course that idea happens to be a Led Zeppelin reunion tour that is. Sorry Jimmy!
