Queens of the Stone Age are ramping up to release their first new album since 2007. The new album, entitled …Like Clockwork, is set to be released in June and will feature a dynamic array of guest stars.

Alex Turner of the Arctic Monkeys, Trent Reznor, and Jake Shears are all on tap to contribute. Sir Elton John has reportedly already contributed to a track on the upcoming record.

“Engelbert Humperdinck had written me a very sweet letter and asked me to sing a duet with him,” explained Sir Elton. “He is part of my history and I couldn’t say no so I went and recorded with him. Then I drove three blocks and went from Engelbert to the Queens of the Stone Age.”

Sir Elton went on to call the transition “a bit of a mindfuck.”

With regular Queens drummer Joey Castillo on the outs, Dave Grohl (who seems to be collaborating with everyone in the music industry these days) has laid down drum tracks for the album.

Returning to the fold along with QOTSA singer/guitarist Josh Homme are former Queens bassist Nick Oliveri and Mark Lanegan, who has contributed guitar and vocals to the band in the past.

…Like Clockwork is scheduled for a June release on Matador Records. If you visit the QOTSA website and refresh your browser, it’s possible to hear snippets of new material from the album.
