Philip Sayce: Emerging Guitar Superstar

Philip Sayce is one of the best-kept secrets in Rock n Roll, but not for long! Guitar Shop TV met recently with this amazing young artist, who we believe is positioned to emerge as one of the finest new rock/blues guitarists of his generation. Sayce absolutely blew us away with his exciting and soulful playing, and we were mightily impressed by his new album Steamroller, a composite of full-tilt, no holds barred rock and blues material, along with some tasteful acoustic-oriented tracks. It is an awesome album that is rapidly climbing up the charts in the UK and now just being discovered in the USA. Streamroller combines amazing guitar work and great songwriting, and well-worth checking out.

Sayce was born in Wales and grew up in a musical household in Toronto, Canada. He was influenced by an electic range of musical influences including Eric Clapton, Ry Cooder,  BB King and Dire Straits. By age 15, Sayce was playing guitar in his first band and became a regular fixture on the Toronto rock scene, where his fluid and mesmerizing musicality earned him many fans and critical acclaim.

While still in his teens, Sayce was invited to join his hero Jeff Healy become a member of his band. He toured the world and recorded with Healy for four years, before moving to Los Angeles, where he played in a sucessful band with Uncle Kracker.  Sayce released his debut solo album, Peace Machine, in 2005, while also working alongside Grammy-nominated rock singer Melissa Etheridge. Sayce recently began his solo career, and is off to an explosive start!

Sayce has been lauded by luminaries such as Jon Bon Jovi and Oprah Winfrey, and he has been compared to guitar giants such as Stevie Ray Vaughn and Jimi Hendrix.  In addition to releasing his new album, Sayce will kick off a European Tour this Spring, followed by a US Tour later this year.  Don’t miss this guy, he’s the real deal, and he won’t be a secret much longer!
