Guitar Shop TV speaks with Def Leppard guitarist extraordinaire Phil Collen about his 2011 tour and newly released CDs. Def Leppard kicks off their summer tour in Ireland and the UK in early June, followed by a three-month tour of North America from June 15th to September 15th. Also on June 7th and various other days throughout the month, Def Leppard’s first ever live album MIRROR BALL will be released throughout the world. MIRROR BALL is a 3 disc set which features a mix of Def Leppard’s classics, three brand new studio songs, and a bonus DVD, and will be available on iTunes, Walmart and other fine retailers. The band’s exciting new single “Undefeated” is also now available. Full details of the Tour and CD releases are available on the Def Leppard website.
In addition to his prolific work with Def Leppard, Phil has a new CD coming out in August with his other band, MANRAZE. Manraze started in 2004 when Phil began to explore ways to express himself via another creative outlet – something a bit closer to his musical home. After a chance meeting on the street with former Sex Pistols drummer Paul Cook, Manraze was formed. The band released their debut album SURREAL through Universal Records in the summer of 2008 to rave reviews. The group’s debut album was chock full of rebellious in-your-face mantras ranging from hardcore punk to dub. Seen as a cross between the Foo Fighters, Green Day, Nirvana, Rage Against The Machine and The Police, MANRAZE ROCKS! Their long awaited second album, titled punkfunkrootsrock, will be released worldwide on August 2nd.
Prior to the album’s summer release, the first single “Over My Dead Body” is set to hit iTunes on May 31st. For additional information, check out the MANRAZE website.
