Innovative Led Zeppelin iBook chronicles photographer’s unprecedented access to band at their peak
By Alex Baker
Neal Preston was an acclaimed rock photographer who has shot Tom Petty, The Who, Queen, Fleetwood Mac, and Bruce Springsteen, among others. In the Seventies Preston was the only embedded tour photographer for Led Zeppelin.
He was given unprecedented access to rock’s heaviest band on the decadent, riotous tours that made them rock legends. Preston’s lens captured many of the most iconic photos of Led Zeppelin at the peak of their power.
The book allows readers to explore Led Zeppelin as seen through Preston’s camera’s eye and features hundreds of photos, many of which have never been seen before. There are also 80 never before seen contact sheets, audio interviews with Preston, video and text interviews with personalities associated with the band, and set lists for many of the concerts depicted in the photos.
The highly interactive book responds to taps, swipes, pinches and other gestures, providing an intuitive and immersive experience for the reader. This innovative format is the perfect platform for Preston’s stunning body of Zeppelin photography. It provides fans with an opportunity to experience Led Zeppelin in a way they never have before.
