Blues guitar wizard Joe Bonamassa was in London recently, playing a series of shows at four of his favorite venues in the blues-mad British capitol. Bonamassa chose the London shows as an opportunity to play songs that had not previously been part of his live set.
One of them was Bonamassa’s cover of the Jeff Beck classic, “Spanish Boots” which was originally found on the guitarist’s 2010 Black Rock album. Bonamassa performed the song at the kickoff performance of the four-date mini-tour, at the 200-capacity Borderline, backed by a three-piece jam band.
Following the performance at the Borderline, Bonamassa moved on to the Shepherd’s Bush Empire where he performed a big band blues show. He then did two sets at the Hammersmith Apollo before concluding the Tour De Force with a massive greatest hits show at the legendary Royal Albert Hall.
The tour was chronicled in the Tour De Force – Live in London collection which is available in double DVD and Blu-ray sets. There’s also a collector’s set which includes all four shows and a hardback book, all packaged in a box designed to look like a Marshall amp.
