Not many individuals who are pushing 70 break into the modeling business, regardless of how attractive they may be. But then again, there’s only one Jimmy Page.
The legendary Zeppelin guitar hero is the most recent rock and roll luminary to be used as a model for a campaign by fashion designer John Varvatos. Page appears in the new Varvatos fashion spread standing alongside breakout guitar sensation Gary Clark Jr. The dapper duo were photographer together at the Rivoli Ballroom in London.
“Jimmy Page has been a fashion and music icon of mine since 1970,” said Varvatos, who in the past has enlisted other rock legends like Alice Cooper, Iggy Pop, Green Day, Joe Perry, Slash, and Paul Weller to appear in previous campaigns. “He was been a major influence and I am honored to call Jimmy a friend.”
Clark, whose major label debut, Blak and Blu made several lists for top albums of 2012, was mutually impressed with meeting and working with the Zeppelin guitar icon.
“It was an honor to work with John Varvatos on his new campaign and to be paired alongside a legend like Jimmy Page for the shoot,” said the Austin-based guitarist and actor.
While the Varvatos campaign has been well-received so far, it remains to be seen whether other offers to strut his stuff in front of the camera will materialize for the veteran rock icon who celebrated his 69th birthday earlier this month.
