Holiday Music Tip: Little Steven’s Christmas A Go-Go

Little Steven’s Underground Garage Presents a compilation of obscure holiday rock, soul, punk, and garage classics

By Alex Baker

Christmas A Go-Go is a groovy holiday rock compilation put together by Little Steven, who in addition to being a member of the E Street Band and a former cast-member on The Sopranos, has a long-running satellite radio show called Little Steven’s Underground Garage, dedicated to obscure garage rock, pop culture, and retro sounds.

This groovy Xmas compilation features some yuletide rockers you’re likely familiar with, like Keith Richards‘ ‘Run, Run, Rudolph,’ The Kinks‘ ‘Father Xmas,’ and The Ramones‘ ‘Merry Xmas (I Don’t Want to Fight Tonight).’ But there are also some rare chestnuts, like The Chesterfield Kings‘ New York Dollsy ‘Hey Santa Claus,’ and Clarence Carter‘s ‘Backdoor Santa,’ possibly the raunchiest Xmas song on record.

If you’re looking for Xmas rock that’s more on the naughty list than the nice one, you should check out Christmas A Go-Go,  which is available as a download at iTunes and at Wicked Cool Records.
