Gary Clark Jr and John Mayer – “Born Under a Bad Sign”

Blues-rock sensation Gary Clark Jr joined onstage by celebrity guitarist John Mayer at 2013 Rock Hall induction

Performing at the 2013 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony back on May 18, Gary Clark Jr was joined onstage by none other than Katy Perry’s on-again off-again love interest, John Mayer.

Standing before a packed house laden with industry insiders at L.A.’s Nokia Theater, the dynamic guitar duo delivered an electrified version of the Albert King blues classic, “Born Under a Bad Sign.”

Gary Clark Jr will also soon be headed to the big screen as well, as the Austin-based musician and actor will be featuring in the concert film of Eric Clapton’s 2013 Crossroads Guitar Festival.

Clark also recently added a second night to his upcoming headlining slot at the famous Apollo Theater in November. His 2012 major label debut “Blak and Blu” hit no. 6 on the Billboard 200 album chart, featured at no. 27 in Rolling Stone’s top 50 albums of 2012 and remains one of our favorite albums of the decade thus far.

Gary Clark Jr is definitely one of the most talented modern blues rockers we’ve seen for some time, and in this instance, John Mayer takes a rather graceful turn as sideman, lending his formidable chops to the cause, without hogging the limelight.
