Mott the Hoople frontman teamed with Ziggy guitarist to produce this hard rock anthem
In the middle 1970s as the British glam rock movement began to fade, two of its greatest icons joined forces to produce a classic rock masterpiece that’s one of the most recognizable hits from the era.
Mott the Hoople singer and Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars actually produced a number of records together (Ronson even did a brief stint with the Hoople). But it was their 1975 hit “Once Bitten Twice Shy” that’s best remembered, in part because of Great White‘s imitative yet faithful cover version of the song from 1989.
But in this case, there’s simply no substitute for the original. Sit back and enjoy this classic vintage clip of Hunter and Ronson, still somewhat steeped in the trappings of glam rock and obviously enjoying themselves as they churn out the definitive version of their top 20 UK hit.
