Introducing Fender Guitars’ new folding-neck model CD-140S VA and CD-60 VA acoustics
Fender has released a pair of acoustic guitars equipped with hinged necks, allowing them to be folded to facilitate ease of transport during travel. The CD-140S VA and the CD-60 VA both come equipped with Fender’s patented Voyage-Air neck hinge, which makes it possible for the instruments to be folded in half and easily stored in a standard backpack-sized case.
The CD-140S is a dreadnought styled acoustic with a solid spruce top, mahogany back and mahogany sides. It also features a tortoise shell pick guard, mother of pearl rosette, and a rosewood fingerboard.
The CD-60 VA also features a spruce top, mahogany back and sides. It has a black pick guard and binding, a white pearloid rosette, a 20-fret rosewood fingerboard and a rosewood bridge.
From what we can see in this official promo video from Fender, both guitars will probably require a good tune-up every time they’re unfolded and set up to play. But nonetheless, the CD-140S and CD-60 VA will undoubtedly look appealing to anyone who’s ever lugged a bulky, cumbersome acoustic guitar case with them on a trip.
