Retro surf rock classic reintroduced with a few modern touches
One of the first guitars to catch our eye this year is Eastwood Guitars‘ new California Rebel. The Rebel is a replica of the ultra-rare 1967 Domino Californian Rebel; an iconic guitar that was widely used during the hey-day of SoCal surf rock in the early Sixties.
The Domino Rebel was a kind of hybrid between a VOX Phantom, an EKO Violin and a Mosrite. The Eastwood California Rebel is made to the exact same specs with a few modern improvements; like a lighter weight and a pair of custom EW RTG Single Coil pickups. Check out this cool demo of the Cali Rebel in action as it’s put through the paces by RJ Ronquillo.
