British heavy metal forefathers get cheeky in their first new video in 20 years
By Alex Baker
The video for the track “Vincent Price” is the band’s first for more than two decades and depicts the veteran rockers in a campy black and white horror movie scenario that the legendarily macabre actor himself would’ve been proud of. While the video is creepy at times, it has an almost Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein quality to it that indicates Deep Purple have managed to maintain their sense of humor despite their more than five decades in the music business.
Hopefully the entertaining video, which features mummies, a Frankenstein monster, and a pole dancing nun along with the mysterious Mr. Price, will inject some life into the sales figures for Now What!?, which plummeted from the charts after selling only 4,000 copies in its first week. This is too bad, since the album really is one of the best the band has released in decades.
