One-of-a-kind custom made Vox expected to fetch between $200,000-300,000 at auction

A rare custom Vox guitar that was created by Mike Bennett and Dickey Denney will be sold at auction on May 18. The guitar was in the possession of the Beatles in the mid-60s and was used by George Harrison for guitar takes on “I am the Walrus.” John Lennon later used the guitar in a video shoot for “Hello, Goodbye.”
“It’s extraordinary when you have the opportunity to offer such an amazing piece of music history as the Vox guitar played by both George Harrison and John Lennon,” said Martin Nolan, Executive Director of Julien’s Auctions in a press release.
The bidding will take place at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York as well as online at JuliensLive.com.
Also up for auction that day will be a signed copy of the Beatles Please Please Me, that’s expected to go for between $30,000-50,000.
