New app chronicles fallen Beatle’s fateful sojourn to the island in 1980

In June of 1980 John Lennon sailed through a dangerous mid-Atlantic storm to reach the island of Bermuda. There the former Beatle found the artistic inspiration for his final record Double Fantasy.

Launching in the iTunes App Store on November 5th, “John Lennon: The Bermuda Tapes” is a new interactive app that follows Lennon’s travels to Bermuda, mere months before his assassination in New York. The highly interactive app uses innovative game play and storytelling to chronicle Lennon’s time on the island as he collaborated remotely with Yoko on Double Fantasy.

 

 

The app includes features visuals along with demo versions of seminal tracks from the album including “Starting Over,” “Nobody Told Me,” “Woman,” and “Dear Yoko.” There are also interactive elements included that will allow users to do things like journey cross the ocean to Bermuda and check out night clubs on the island..

 

John Lennon: The Bermuda Tapes” was “directed” by filmmaker Michael Epstein. Proceeds from the new app go to Why Hunger’s “Imagine There’s No Hunger” campaign.
