Yes, it’s a little touristy and usually very crowded, but when it comes to great blues music, Blue Chicago on Clark is the real deal. The music is red hot, the singers and players are always bringin’ it, and they usually deliver a great show to the crowd.
The doorman Lorenzo is cool and funny, and the crowd a great mix of locals, international and domestic tourists, young people, older folks, black, white, Asian, and Latino. Blues tunes range from slow and greasy to fast dance shuffles, and the crowd definitely brings it onto the dance floor. The club tends to feature female vocalists and this makes it all the more unique. Guitar Shop TV’s Chicago correspondent Lauren Strec checks it out.
