Akron, OH indie-blues duo win big and arguably steal the show at 2013 Grammy Awards

It’s been a sensational 12 months or so for Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney. Eighteen months ago the midwest rock duo were still largely an indie act. Although the band had made the switch to the major labels with 2006′s Magic Potion, their appeal was still limited to a fanbase primarily built of urban hipster types. But with the release of 2011′s El Camino, the band successfully elevated their bluesy garage rock to true stadium rock level.
Last night The Black Keys netted four out of the four Grammy Awards they were nominated for, including Best Rock Album for El Camino as well as Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song for “Lonely Boy.” Singer/guitarist Auerbach also received a pre-broadcast Grammy for Producer of the Year Non-Classical.
The Akron, OH duo capped off their stellar night with a performance that brought down the house when they were joined onstage by Dr. John and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. Check it out!
