Seasoned guitarist strikes out on his own with blazing soul-rock sound
By Alex Baker
He’s been labelled as “Greg Allman‘s secret weapon” by Glide Magazine and called “one of the best guitarists in the country” by Billboard. Scott Sharrard is fairly well-known as a lead vocalist and guitarist, who’s played not only with The Allman Brothers, but also the likes of Marshall Crenshaw and the late Levon Helm.
But singular talent like Scott Sharrard does not content itself to stick it out on the sidelines. Recently the guitarist has been blazing a trail as a solo artist. With his backing unit the Brickyard Band, Scott has released three critically acclaimed solo albums and established a distinct sound that’s a smooth combination of rock, soul and blues.
GSTV were in the house last summer at the Red Lion in New York where we caught Scott’s set and shot this video.
As you’ll quickly ascertain, Scott Sharrard is much more than just a hot guitarist. The guy’s got formidable vocal chops and can write songs that harken back to the days when true music lovers maintained more emotional relationships with their album collections.
